If you're seeing this post again (for the second time), it's because I whiffed things a little bit and sent this post out before checking the subject line! The autofill replaced the subject, "June, Bites of Sunshine, and Other Things" with my heckin email address! So that was a thing, right? Folks may have gotten a "mail@orribu.co" email--it might have even went to their spam folder, which OOPS.
Just a little blunder on my end. But ANYWAY--!

June’s going to be a weird month.

The first week, I’ll be getting a major surgery that’s estimated to knock me out for about 6 weeks. During that time, I won’t be in the office or studio. Actually, I don’t know what I’m going to be doing during that time to be honest because there’s so much I WANT TO DO…

Like I’ve been working on my website, right? And that’s a pretty big thing in of itself, mostly because I don’t just want a blog or just a gallery…I want to open up a shop where I can sell digital goods and services, with some physical goodies here and there. I also aim to eventually create a membership to replace the Ko-Fi and Twitch Fruit Salad. Maybe.

🍓 Bites of Sunshine! 🍓

​Last week, I asked everyone if they could recall a time someone really made their day, or if they’d turned someone’s day around. And you responded! Here’re a couple of really good bites of sunshine:

Tazz on Bluesky said that his friend surprised him with a jar of paper stars she made by hand after he’d gone through a rough breakup, which is so sweet! Reading this brought such a big smile to my face—I love when people channel their inner creativity and their kindness into such thoughtful gifts, and I hope seeing that jar of stars brings a comforting warmth and joy to Tazz whenever he looks at it!

And EmKay from Traversing Tuesdays replied to the newsletter:

I relate to this on so many levels, you have no idea! There’s something special about the warm fuzzies you get when someone tells you that they enjoy what you do! Imagine that—making someone’s day, then they make your day by telling you that you made their day? The warm fuzzies. Are off. The charts!

🍊 What I’ve Been Up To 🍊

A couple of things, actually.

For one, I’ve been toiling away trying to get the commission/digital goods shop on Orribu.Co up and running. I’m tripping over some things and slamming into walls with other things, but I think I’m…coming up with something serviceable.

I’ve also been going a little crazy working on TwistedFates:LUCAS, which if you didn’t know is a visual novel prequel to the story of TwistedFates!

🍋 Winding Down? Gearing Up? 🍋

So next Friday…is the big event.

The—surgery. It’s surgery.

I’ll be honest—with this being the biggest of the two (soon, three) surgeries I’ve had so far…?

I’m freakin’ terrified.

Not only do I have the anxiety of…you know…losing an entire organ this time, but then there’re questions, right. Like what are they gonna find in the pathology? Are they going to be kind with pain management? WHAT AM I GOING TO DO BEING IN BEDREST THAT LONG???

I’M GONNA BE SO BOOOREDDDDDDDDD…

Okay but on a serious note, I’m going to be taking it super slow next month. Posts will slow down a bit, but I promise I will be CHOMPING AT THE BIT to be able to chat with y’all again. I think there’s like…maybe? One more newsletter after this? And then I’ll be down and out.
